The outcome is decided by the Settlement Values in the final Metryc settlement file that Reask produces for Hurricane Nolo, posted on the Supplemental Data page of the exchange's website. Each Settlement Value is the maximum 3-second peak wind gust attributable to the storm, in miles per hour to one decimal place, across the grid cells in the defined Settlement Area around a Reference Location; winds from any other weather system are excluded, and interim or forecast probabilities published during the storm are not used. The comparison covers every Reference Location in the Reference Location Registry when the market was first listed, whether or not it is listed for trading. The outcome is Yes for the Reference Location named in the market question if it has the highest Settlement Value and No for every other listed location, and if the location with the highest value is not listed for trading, every listed location resolves No. A tie at one decimal place is broken with Reask's full-precision values, and locations still tied at full precision each resolve Yes, but if every Settlement Value is 0.0 mph, every listed location resolves No. The outcome still resolves on the file if the storm never reaches hurricane status. Early resolution does not apply, and the values are final when the final Metryc settlement file is published, which follows the National Hurricane Center's final advisory for the storm, with Reask delivering the values within 36 hours of that advisory. If the file is temporarily unavailable, resolution waits until it is published or restored; if the National Hurricane Center resumes advisories for the storm before publication, resolution waits until the storm finally dissipates, while advisories resumed after publication, and any later Reask revisions, do not change the outcome.

About

A wind gust is a brief burst of wind that is stronger than the sustained wind around it. The event is which of a fixed set of reference locations records the highest 3-second peak wind gust from Hurricane Nolo, taken from a high-resolution modeled reconstruction of the storm's wind field that counts only that storm's winds.
